Invitation

for the part of you that chose this work

[date] · [venue], Portland, OR 10am – 6pm · 4 CE hours · NBCC approved

You got into this work because something in you wanted to.

Not just because it was a reasonable career choice. Because some part of you was genuinely called to it.

That part is still there. It’s just buried under a lot of Zoom calls.

Invitation is a CEU day for therapists who are ready to remember what it felt like to be excited about this work — and to leave with concrete tools they can actually use with clients the following week.

It’s not a lecture. It’s not a webinar you half-watch while answering emails.

You’ll make things. You’ll go places. You’ll play. You’ll do something slightly terrifying for exactly 90 seconds and then laugh about it with people who just did the same thing. You’ll leave with interventions grounded in narrative therapy, expressive arts, and REBT that you can actually bring back to your clients.

It will be the most fun you’ve had at a CEU event. That’s a promise and also a low bar and both things are true.

A note on access:

Designer and writer Sara Hendren argues that all of us are navigating a world built on assumptions about what bodies can do — and that all of us have needs that go unspoken because we’ve learned not to ask. We think she’s right.

When you register, we’ll ask a few short questions about what would help us make today work well for you. You don’t need to name a diagnosis or explain yourself. Just tell us what helps.

Everything served today is vegan and gluten-free. Nothing requires prior experience with anything. Every part of the day has an option that works for a range of bodies and nervous systems.

Who this is for:

  • Therapists who are burned out, or getting there.
  • Therapists who love their work but worry they’ve been missing that spark lately.
  • Therapists who want to bring creative and experiential interventions to clients but need to experience them first – and require a safe space in which to try a couple new modalities.
  • Interns and associates who want to meet other people in this field who are also figuring it out.
  • Anyone who has sat through enough CEU click-through webinars to know there has to be a better way lol 🙂

Who this is not for:

Anyone who is completely unwilling to be uncomfortable in a social setting.

(If you’re nervous about it — good. So is everyone. That’s actually the point.)

About your facilitator:

I’m Moira Ryan, LPC. I work at the intersection of mental health, peer support, and creative wellness in Portland. I supervise emerging clinicians, see therapy clients, run soundbaths, and design programs — sometimes all in the same week.

I built Invitation because I kept watching therapists I respect get ground down by the work, and I wanted to make something that gave something back.

I’ll be there the whole day. I’ll also be the first one to do the scary thing. That part is important.
